Passing

The quality of life is based upon the real peace one achieve's through acceptance. Yesterday I sat with a soul that was passing. She had lived 87 years of life. I had only met her in the past year and was blessed to call her "Grandma". I had lost both my grandmothers by 1980, and it filled a nostalgic void from long ago. First I honored her with this title out of respect and tradtion. Then in her one of last moments, I was simply honored to share her company. My wife told me her Grandmother's life was lived for her family and being there for them. She said all her Grandmother's children were gathered with her when God chose to bring her home. Even in her last moments, she was considerate, polite and thoughtful. She offered me a "Thank you" for visiting her. Even in her pain, she was dignified. I wish I could have got to know her better. I am grateful for the brief moment we shared. My prayers of healing I offer to the family she left behind. I offer them the peace that she is with God, preparing a place for all of them to one day be a family again.
